Darth Revan is a prominent figure in the Star Wars Legends continuity, specifically within the Old Republic era. His first appearance was in the 2003 video game, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Originally a Jedi Knight, Revan was a charismatic and brilliant strategist who defied the Jedi Council's orders and led a force to combat the invading Mandalorians during the Mandalorian Wars. His experiences in the war, coupled with his insatiable thirst for knowledge, led him and his friend Alek, later known as Darth Malak, to the unknown regions of space, where they encountered a Sith Emperor and fell to the dark side. Revan and Malak returned to the Republic as Sith Lords, initiating the Jedi Civil War. Revan, as Darth Revan, commanded a vast Sith armada. Betrayed by Malak, Revan was left for dead but was found by the Jedi and, stripped of his memories, was retrained as a Jedi. He ultimately confronted and defeated Malak, saving the Republic. However, Revan's past and his encounter with the Sith Emperor continued to haunt him, leading him on further quests beyond the Republic.
