This collection presents legendary warhorses from Romance of the Three Kingdoms including Jade Lion that Shines in the Night, Red Hare, Black Cloud Treading on Snow, and Di Lu, recreated as modular figures and building block figures designed for collectors, builders, and fans of historical brick based characters.
The "Jade Lion that Shines in the Night" is a legendary horse featured in Luo Guanzhong's historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. This magnificent steed is first mentioned during the campaign against Dong Zhuo in the early chapters of the novel. It is described as a powerful and swift horse capable of covering vast distances with ease. Its most notable characteristic is its pure white coat, which gleams even in darkness, giving the appearance of a jade lion illuminated by moonlight. The horse initially belongs to Dong Zhuo and is later acquired by Lu Bu, further enhancing his image as an invincible warrior. Jade Lion is instrumental in Lu Bu's many victories, allowing him to outmaneuver enemies on the battlefield, and its legendary presence translates naturally into a detailed small scale figure and miniature character design.
Red Hare is a famed warhorse from the historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, renowned for its exceptional speed and stamina. It is described as a crimson colored steed capable of covering immense distances. Red Hare first appears when Dong Zhuo gifts the horse to Lu Bu in an attempt to secure his loyalty. After Lu Bu's defeat and execution, Red Hare is acquired by Cao Cao, who later presents the horse to Guan Yu in hopes of persuading him to change allegiance. Guan Yu remains loyal to Liu Bei, and Red Hare becomes a symbol of unmatched martial prowess and unwavering devotion. After Guan Yu's death, Red Hare refuses food and water and eventually dies, a story that inspires brick style figure and minifig interpretations within historical building toy displays.
Black Cloud Treading on Snow is not a human character but a legendary horse in Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The horse first appears accompanying Xiahou Dun, a general under Cao Cao. Its distinctive appearance features a dark, nearly black coat contrasted with white hooves, creating the image of dark clouds treading across snow. Known for exceptional speed and endurance, this steed symbolizes power and status during the turbulent era. Although not a warrior itself, Black Cloud Treading on Snow enhances the presence of its rider and is well suited for representation as a brick based character or modular figure in Three Kingdoms themed scenes.
Di Lu is another famous horse from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, celebrated for its remarkable speed and stamina and often described as one of the finest steeds of the era. Di Lu was originally owned by Zhang Wu, a subordinate of Yuan Shao, and later came into the possession of Liu Bei after Zhang Wu's death. The horse is best known for carrying Liu Bei across the Tan Stream, saving him from pursuing enemies led by Cai Mao. Although sometimes considered unlucky by earlier owners, Di Lu ultimately served Liu Bei faithfully and became a symbol of perseverance and destiny, qualities reflected in minifigure, miniature character, and building block figure representations inspired by the novel.
