Vance Astro, also known as Major Victory, is a character originating from classic comic storytelling who first appeared in Super-Heroes #18 (January 1969). Born in Saugerties, New York, he volunteered for Project: Starjump in 1988, becoming an astronaut selected for humanity’s first interstellar mission launched from Earth. To survive the long journey to Alpha Centauri, he was placed in suspended animation within a copper alloy suit. Due to unforeseen circumstances, his spacecraft traveled far faster than anticipated, arriving much earlier than planned. There, he encountered the original Guardians of the Galaxy and eventually joined their ranks. Vance developed psionic abilities such as telekinesis and telepathy as a side effect of prolonged suspension, with his suit helping regulate these powers. He also carries Captain America’s shield as a symbol of admiration for the legendary hero.
Natalia “Natasha” Alianovna Romanoff, also known as Black Widow, is a prominent character within the MCU. Portrayed by Scarlett Johansson beginning with Iron Man 2 (2010), she is depicted as a highly skilled spy, assassin, and martial artist. Originally trained under the KGB, she later defects to S.H.I.E.L.D. and becomes a core member of the Avengers, contributing her expertise in intelligence operations and combat. Known for her resourcefulness, strategic thinking, and loyalty, her story arc culminates in Avengers: Endgame (2019), where she sacrifices herself to obtain the Soul Stone and save the universe. The standalone film Black Widow (2021) further explores her background, including her training in the Red Room and her connections to other operatives.
Hercules, within comic-based superhero lore, is inspired by the legendary Greek hero and is portrayed as the Olympian God of Strength. As the son of Zeus and the mortal Alcmene, he possesses immense physical power, near invulnerability, and extraordinary stamina. Throughout his long existence, Hercules has participated in countless battles and heroic adventures. He is a founding member of the Champions, a Los Angeles-based superhero team, and has frequently fought alongside the Avengers. Despite his heroism, he is often characterized as boastful and impulsive, with personal struggles centered on balancing godlike power with life among mortals. His adversaries range from mythological beasts such as Hydra and Cerberus to powerful enemies like Ares and the Mandarin.
Adam Warlock is a synthetic being created by the Sovereign, a genetically engineered race striving for perfection. Designed as a living weapon intended to eliminate the Guardians of the Galaxy, he first appears in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023). Emerging from a birthing pod, Warlock launches an initial attack driven by vengeance. Endowed with superhuman strength, speed, and energy-based abilities, he begins his journey lacking emotional maturity and worldly understanding. Over time, his experiences lead him to question his purpose, ultimately shifting from a destructive force to an ally who values friendship and protection.
Gamora is a central figure within the Guardians of the Galaxy storyline, portrayed as the adopted daughter of Thanos. As the last surviving member of the Zen-Whoberis, her people were destroyed during Thanos’s campaign. Raised and trained as an elite assassin, Gamora later turns against him and joins the Guardians, seeking redemption for her past actions. Making her first appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), she demonstrates exceptional strength, agility, regenerative abilities, and mastery of close-combat weaponry. Initially guarded and distrustful, she gradually forms strong bonds with her teammates, particularly Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord.
Amora, known as the Enchantress, is a powerful sorceress originating from Asgardian lore within classic comic storytelling. Renowned for her beauty, intelligence, and mastery of magic, she debuted in Journey into Mystery #103 (April 1964). Her abilities include mind control, illusion casting, and energy manipulation, often combined with seduction and deception. Frequently opposing Thor and the Avengers, she forms alliances with figures such as Loki or pursues her own ambitions, driven by a desire for power and romantic conquest.
Balder Odinson, often referred to as Balder the Brave, is an Asgardian god and the son of Odin and Frigga, as well as Thor’s half-brother. Celebrated for his radiant presence, kindness, and near invulnerability, Balder is regarded as one of Asgard’s most beloved figures. His protection stems from a vow sworn by nearly all things in existence to never harm him—except for mistletoe, which was tragically overlooked and later exploited by Loki. A noble warrior and compassionate leader, Balder’s death and descent into Hel are recurring themes connected to Ragnarok, serving as pivotal moments in Asgardian history.
Wrecker, first appearing in The Defenders #17 (November 1974), is the leader of the Wrecking Crew. Originally a common criminal named Dirk Garthwaite, he gained immense strength and durability after a lightning strike imbued his crowbar with supernatural power. He later shared this power with his accomplices, forming the Wrecking Crew. Wrecker’s enchanted crowbar allows him to manipulate earth-based forces and unleash powerful concussive blasts. As a recurring adversary, he frequently clashes with various superheroes, with his weapon serving as the primary conduit for his abilities.
